Cantata quote:
James Cook quote?:"But yesterday we had no place
On history's board and varied page;
But yesterday a savage race
Dominion owned where now we wage
The arts that from a grateful soil
Abundance bring, or proudly rear
The shrines wherein the priests of toil
Hold worship through the changing year;
The arts unknown to people rude
Yet can the poorest nation bless,
And make the wildest solitude"
"They lied like beasts of the forest, in roving parties, without arts of any kind, sleeping in summer like dogs, under the hollow sides of trees…"We will probably want to include also part of the All the Worlds a Fair book quotes.
Also something from George Harris

Past the hat that we were hoping to use I'm not really sure what else we needed. If anyone has ideas though I am up for it.
Okay, good, good. This is a great run down.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to do some extensive research on the flora tomorrow. My hope is to get some naturalist drawings to go up with our Thylacine and Tasmanian Devil. On top of this, I'll pick out what we should say about George Harris and begin to formulate the preliminary text for everything listed.
Props...yeah I'm still with you on that one. I have no idea what else we could use...
Ok message me with whatever else you need. Also post whenever you get your preliminary text stuff down.
ReplyDeleteAs for the text per object I'm not sure we really need much on them except for basic descriptions... We probably want a small added box in the coffin cases just about what they are related too. like coffin case 1 has mainly the botanics and coffin case 2 has more the colonial concepts.
This is looking great. I will be getting one prop for your team from State Parks. It looks just like this one: http://thumbs4.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mC9EFKIOpzzwsQ01a4lAY1w.jpg
ReplyDeleteWow! So much good work Jessica! Thanks for taking this initiative! I will be trying to get info/images and keeping track of the image side of things. Let me know what else ya'all come up with!
ReplyDelete(I am writing your whole list down)
Abbie I have multiple images from Carrie from the Beardsley's collection. I will send a few of them along to you so you can help figure out the three we want.
