Lab Hours

I assume these are still due and since I've done way over the required number for it I'm absolutely posting them.

1 hour and 45 minutes docenting.  Nobody really came in, but that was the day we all opened our cases and did measurements.
45 minutes in the exhibit measuring my objects yesterday and making sure I had the right numbers for each of them.
An hour and a half on Tuesday writing down everything I knew about my objects already and photocopying some of my references
About 2 hours on Thursday researching my objects and trying to write them in my notebook for how the worksheet has everything laid out
About 2 and a half hours working on Sunday trying to continue to find scholarly resources
A little over 3 hours last night finalizing everything, entering it into the worksheets, and looking up sources.
About 20 minutes this morning printing everything off and making sure I had everything put together.

In all honesty there was probably more hours put in but I can't remember what happened this week or what happened last week at this point so that's how many I am going with.  There might even be more just from this morning since I am supposed to meet Nancy to get another source for the Matchbox Bean Pods, but we will see if I make it there in time. 

Welp... that might be it.. hours of digging

Hours of digging and this is essentially all I have found. I guess I will have to let that suffice.  I'll probably put in a last stitch effort in the morning but I have got to get to bed

This looked like a pretty good representation of one of the skirts which sadly is not one of my objects.  I know it's pretty late and whoever has it probably doesn't need this, but i thought I would post it anyways just in case 

Proving to be difficult.. don't mind me I'm just venting

I swear with the amount of time I have put into all of these you would think I would be farther.. I just feel like my sources aren't good or I don't have catalog pictures of them if I find other scholarly sources mentioning them.  I was doing so well with the Northwest Coast Paddles and now I'm basically taking any mention of the other objects

sure it's a calling card case. and sure it's super easy to find similar looking things in auctions.  but they are auctions and thus not scholarly sources.

Made in Germany. By Simon Rosenau. In Jean's travelogue for when she got it.  That's what I've got.  That's it. No catalog or pretty pictures unless you count the one I found on ebay which sadly does not work

most likely made with either palm leaves or flax. Maori. Usually called Poi now sadly not Dancing Balls. Sad. I can find where to buy them if that's what you're interested in but past that I have nothing. Why?!?!

Sure they look like them. But they also look like what they call 7 different types of pods that all look the same.

Lab Hours

Minimally delayed... woops.

About an hour and a half spent in the library searching through silver makers marks and silver manufacturing. I only found one mention of Simon Roseneu (sp?) And the German silver book that was supposed to be there was absent so the search continues
About two hours looking through catalogs on northwest coast art- the Haida art catalog proved useful. So there was one source. I also have my Spirit Within catalog and there is the other catalog from Dr. Castaneda that has the eye shape I was looking for (understanding northwest coast art)
About 45 minutes on the computer with Carrie trying to find different options for the card case.. some examples were found but they weren't off very good sites so I need to find some catalogs on them
An hour or so at home spent looking up pictures of items similar to try to get an idea of what catalogs to look into. I need botanical and natural history catalogs for the matchbox bean pods.

I need to look up my Maori Dancing Balls... for whatever reason those are the ones I've been neglecting.
